Frequently asked

What instruments does it work with?

Lodestone is a chromatic tuner, so it hears whatever you play: guitar (standard, drop, and alternate tunings), ukulele, bass, violin, cello, banjo, mandolin, and more. There's no instrument or tuning to pick.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. Open the app and it's already listening. Play a string and the screen shows you the note and how close you are to in tune.

How do I read it?

The big letter is your nearest note, and the whole screen takes on that note's color. The label tells you how many cents sharp or flat you are; as you turn the tuning peg, the particles tighten and the orb slides toward center. When you're in tune, everything settles, the edges glow, and you feel a gentle tap.

It isn't hearing my instrument.

Make sure Lodestone has microphone access (iOS Settings → Lodestone → Microphone), play a clear single note, and keep loud background noise down. On very quiet or muted strings it waits for a confident reading rather than guessing.

Does it record or send my audio?

No. Lodestone uses your microphone only to detect the note you're playing. Nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. See the privacy policy for details.

Is the tuner on this page the real app?

It's the same pitch engine and design, running live in your browser using your mic. The iPhone app adds the haptics, the always-on listening, and the full-screen experience.
